Enchanted Forest of Light is Back this November - MK REVIEW

November 5, 2021
********** MK REVIEW **********

The enchanted lights is an understatement for this magical forest of lights at Descanso Gardens.  The majestic lights that your family will experience at this completely transformed garden is something straight out of a fairy tale.  Words cannot describe the surreal forest that leads you through over a mile of just spectacular decorations. This ranks high on my all time favorite holiday events. I strongly recommend that you walk at a snail's pace to fully engulf yourself in the changing light effects that can create a spectacular photo op. The path through the garden is about a mile long and there are plenty of ushers and signs to point you in the right direction. Keep your head looking up for the ever changing enchanted forests but also don't forget to look down at some of the color changing lights on the ground. Don't think this is just a garden with some lights hanging from the trees, it is so much more. It's hard to explain the feeling, but once you are in the forest you will understand, it truly puts you right in a fairy tale.  Just perfect for kids of all ages and adults alike.
Tips:
- for the best pictures put your camera phone in night mode and hold it still.  Bring a tripod for better pictures.  Make sure to avoid the blue lighting and wait for the lighter more vibrants colors for spectacular pictures. Avoid using a flash
- most of the trails are on dirt or wood chips so if you bring a stroller make sure it's the one with the off-road wheels
- do NOT rush, there is way too much to see and the light show is constantly changing, each with a different effect
- there is plenty of food and beverages for purchase so no need to smuggle stuff in
- so far the event is sold out Nov 26,27 and Dec 4, 11, 18 so purchase your tickets online before you show up.   They are closed Nov 25, Dec 24 and 25th

With COVID restrictions lifting throughout Los Angeles County, Descanso Gardens announced today that it will once again be holding its beloved holiday events, Enchanted Forest of Light this year. Both events were cancelled in 2020 as a result of COVID shutdowns. Enchanted, everyone’s favorite light show, will be held November 21, 2021-January 10, 2022 with its preview party on November 20, 2021.

Visitors can once again experience the wonder of Enchanted Forest of Light from November 21, 2021 - January 10, 2022. New this year will be an entire town of magical “stained glass” creations built in the Rose Garden by contemporary sculptor Tom Fruin. Popular returning favorites returning include sparkling, swirling installations from HYBYCOZO on the Main Lawn, Flower Power on the Promenade and exquisite lighting effects in the Ancient Forest.

“We were heartbroken to cancel our holiday events last year,” said Executive Director Juliann Rooke, “but it was the expedient thing to do. Now that LA County has declared it safe, we’re thrilled to be able to once again host our favorite events, following all guidelines as applicable.”

Tickets for both events will go on sale in September for members and October to the general public.
