With COVID restrictions lifting throughout Los Angeles County, Descanso Gardens announced today that it will once again be holding its beloved holiday events, Carved and Enchanted Forest of Light this year. Both events were cancelled in 2020 as a result of COVID shutdowns. Descanso’s unique take on Halloween, Carved, will occur October 11-31, 2021 and will feature exciting new displays and experiences. Enchanted, everyone’s favorite light show, will be held November 21, 2021-January 10, 2022 with its preview party on November 20, 2021.
Carved is a family-friendly event for all ages. For three weeks in October, thousands of carved pumpkins will line a 1-mile walk through the Camellia Forest and Oak Grove. Along with pumpkins, there will be exciting new oversized sculptures made of sticks and other natural materials, along with interactive animated totems. Pumpkin carving demonstrations, the ever-popular pumpkin house, a hay maze, themed food & beverage and picnic style seating will all help to create a fun harvest festival ambiance.
Visitors can once again experience the wonder of Enchanted Forest of Light from November 21, 2021 - January 10, 2022. New this year will be an entire town of magical “stained glass” creations built in the Rose Garden by contemporary sculptor Tom Fruin. Popular returning favorites returning include sparkling, swirling installations from HYBYCOZO on the Main Lawn, Flower Power on the Promenade and exquisite lighting effects in the Ancient Forest.
“We were heartbroken to cancel our holiday events last year,” said Executive Director Juliann Rooke, “but it was the expedient thing to do. Now that LA County has declared it safe, we’re thrilled to be able to once again host our favorite events, following all guidelines as applicable.”
Tickets for both events will go on sale in September for members and October to the general public.
