KCA offers programs for children starting at age three. Our Tiny Tigers Program is for kids ages 3 to 5. Our Little Dragons Program is for kids ages 6 to 8. Our Junior Ninjas Program is for kids ages 9 to 12. Our Young Adult Program is for teens from 13 to 17. Separating our classes by age level allows us to give our students the personal attention they need to become their best.
KCA Youth Center offers an age-specific martial arts-based program helping children develop social, intellectual, emotional, and physical skill sets while also fostering a healthy self image. Our program helps ensure a more successful transition into main-stream activities as your child matures such as team and individual sports, classroom behavior, and peer and sibling relationship building. Classes are fun, educational, inspiring and safe.
All of our youth programs include our KCA Bullyproof Program which teaches control, not violence. Other martial arts systems teach kids violence against violence. They teach a child to react with punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. The KCA Bullyproof program first teaches children how to verbally defuse a bullying situation so as to stop it before violence occurs. However, if attacked, they will employ techniques that are defensive, use no strikes, and non-violently neutralize a bully. The confidence provided by the KCA Bullyproof program teaches children to fight “fire with water.”
Come in and see what we are all about. We will take the time to speak with you about your goals, concerns and aspirations. We make it a point to make sure you are comfortable with our staff as well as our academy.
A new class has been added for all Little Dragon and Junior Ninja students. This class will focus on our sparring and grappling curriculum. The class will only be available during the summer months from Friday, June 1st through Friday, August 31st.
***** MK Review *****
We live in a violent society where bullying has become an unfortunate norm in the lives of children. To think that one's child is immune to such acts not only jeopardizes their physical safety, but also opens them to potentially years of emotional and mental torment. I personally feel that martial arts is meant to build character, discipline and self confidence and not promote violence. My husband and I looked long and hard to find a dojo with instructors that shared these similar values. We tried various programs such as Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu but never found anything to our liking until we discovered Kenpō Combat Academy 2 years ago.
My 7 and 5 year old boys have now been in the program for 2 years and 6 months respectively. Sensei Charlie and Sensei Jeff lead the majority of the youth programs and not only do they keep the classes fun, but they also teach discipline and self respect. Above all else, their focus on anti-bullying is key to building confidence in my children. The children gravitate to them and enjoy every minute of class. Children learn a variety of grappling techniques as well as an array of strikes and blocks. Much of their teachings center around real life situations which is very unlike other dojo's that dedicate the majority of their time to inflicting damage to inanimate objects. The children that are 5 years and up get 2 group classes, 1 anti-bullying class and 1 private class per week for their tuition. The 30 minute private lesson is crucial to learning proper techniques and is typically an additional charge at other dojos. I have nothing but praise for this dojo and highly recommend it for anyone looking to get their children into martial arts. As a plug for their adult program, I was in the women's self defense class for a year and loved every minute of it.
