Looking for a fun (and free!) way to spend a summer evening with the family? Claremont's Movies in the Park series is back with four family-friendly movies showing at parks throughout the city this July.
Each movie night starts with free preshow activities for kids at 7:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at dusk. It's an easy way to enjoy a night outside with neighbors while watching some favorite family films under the stars.
This year's lineup includes:
- July 8: Up at Lewis Park
- July 16: Matilda at June Vail Park
- July 22: The Wild Robot at Wheeler Park
- July 30: How to Train Your Dragon at Memorial Park
The summer fun continues on Tuesday, August 4 with a special National Night Out event at Joāt Park, formerly Cahuilla Park. Families can stop by from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for Claremont Police Department vehicles, booths, displays, games, and prizes for kids. After the event, Zootopia 2 will begin at dusk.

A few tips before you go: Bring blankets or low-back chairs, since families often arrive early to grab a good spot. Pack your favorite movie snacks or a picnic dinner if you'd like. Keep in mind that dogs are not allowed at most Claremont parks (except designated dog-friendly parks), and alcohol and smoking are prohibited.
